Directives are issued in terms of section 4 of the Money Laundering & Proceeds of Crime Act.

The Director of the Unit may, from time to time, issue written directives of a general character not inconsistent with this Act, relating to the exercise of any functions conferred or imposed on competent supervisory authorities, financial institutions and designated non-financial businesses or professions.

Directives are issued when, in the Director’s opinion, they are necessary or convenient to be so issued for the better administration and implementation of the Money Laundering & Proceeds of Crime Act and the Bank Use Promotion Act.
